Only 43 days until the first practise session for the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first race of 20 that will make up the 2011 season.
Hopefully this year will see the same kind of challenge for the title that led to the exciting finale to the 2010 season where a number of drivers entered the final race still with a chance of winning the Drivers title.
The race for the constructors title will once again be a bit clearer. McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull will no doubt start as favourites but hopefully the Mercedes team will make an improvement on last season and there will no doubt be points for the lower order teams as well…my tip for the best of the rest will be Force India who have today unveiled Scot Paul Di Resta as their new driver alongside Adrian Sutil.
It won’t be a surprise to anyone who knows me that I am tipping Ferrari to win the Constructors title and Fernando Alonso for the Drivers title. Ferrari confessed to getting the strategy wrong in the last race of 2010 and it cost Alonso his shot at the title…I think the prancing horse team will feel they owe Alonso one for that error. And you can’t write off Filipe Massa either although in fairness he will feel like a number 2 driver but a dangerous one at that.
Ferrari will launch their car on friday…the F150 as it will be known…it will be red, will look like sex on wheels and if it only had a certain M.Schumacher behind the wheel then life would be pretty perfect.
